A small kitchen-hack..

When making the aïoli yesterday I couldn’t be bothered to find a knife to cut up the garlic, or to dirty the pestle & mortar, which I hate cleaning.

Instead, I put a large pinch of salt on top of a peeled garlic clove on a wooden chopping board, then rested the curved back of a wooden spoon on top of the clove with one hand, and hit the spoon quite hard with the other. Instant smash! It instantly crushed garlic with one or two repeats. Much quicker and less washing up than many other options!
